Radiance Epics are cheap, and I am still waiting
Radiance came out on October 23. By the end of release day, 22 of its 28 Epics had a market price under $5. 14 of them were under $2. Zero Point Inflection was 58 cents. You could own one of every Epic under $5 for $42.59.
I am not buying any of them yet. My rule has not changed. If an Epic is under $5, you buy it. But on a set that is a week old, under $5 is not the floor yet. This week proved it.
Today 16 of the 28 Epics are cheaper than they were on release night. The typical one is down 11%. On release night, four Epics were under a dollar. Today it is 10. The middle price for a Radiance Epic is now $2.08. Every box that gets cracked puts more copies on TCGplayer. 5,128 Radiance Epics sold on release day alone.
What Vendetta's Epics did after release
Vendetta is my warning sign. On its release weekend, August 1 to 3, 21 of its 27 Epics were under $5. One week later, 25 of those 27 were cheaper. The typical one was down 36%.
Today 24 of those 27 are still below their release weekend price. The typical one is down 74%. Rebuttal was $13.72 that weekend. Today it is $0.95. Shuriken Flip went from $23.23 to $3.82. That is why I wait.
Blade of the Exile gave the whole jump back
Blade of the Exile is the one Epic that spiked. Riven won a 755-player event on Saturday, October 24. Four of the top eight decks were Riven, and all of them ran three copies of this card. It went from $38.62 to $54.21 by Monday. Today it is $39.46. It gave the whole jump back in three days.
In my last video I said this card would stay flat near $38. It did spike, but it came right back. If you bought one at $50, I feel bad for you. I still think it is one of the best cards in the set. But a $40 Epic should not be a thing. To me an Epic should sit around $15 to $20.
I do not think it gets much cheaper from here. If it gets down to about $33 to $35, I buy it. If Riven wins the Germany regional qualifier, this card goes back up. Keep your eyes on it.
The other Epics still over $5
Six Radiance Epics are over $5 on TCGplayer right now.
Realm of Death surprised me. I have not seen many Mordekaiser decks. It was $12.90 on release night. It dipped and bounced back to about $13. I thought this would be a $5 card. I think it settles between $5 and $10. I have two and need one more, but I am holding off.
The Ball is the strange one. On release weekend it dropped as low as $6. It has climbed back to $13. I pulled seven of these. Someone has a secret sauce with this card. Maybe people are building Orianna to fight Riven. If you know, tell me in the comments.
Neeko, Bleeding In was $39 before prerelease weekend. Now the market price is about $7.22. It is the first Epic with no color, and you can swap your legends in and out with it. I have my playset. If this shows up in a winning deck in Germany, expect it to go up.
Seraphic Wyvern was close to $5 on release night. Now it is about $5.70. It is dancing on the $5 line, and I think it stays there. When you channel runes, it lets you channel one more. I want to see what decks run it.
Hexplosive Minefield was close to $30 before prerelease weekend. It crashed to $5.46, and the market price is $5.06 now. If Ziggs takes a piece of the meta it could move. I think it goes down from here.
Under $5, and under $1
Ten Epics are under $5 but over $1. I will not go through every one. Dockside Lock-Up is the one I want to call out. I pulled two at prerelease, and in that format it was busted. You take their biggest unit and use it yourself. It costs a lot of power. The market price is around $3. I think it gets better in a later set, so a playset is a good idea.
Encore is at $2. I do not think the Seraphine deck is the token deck you want. I still think that is Viktor. But at $2, pick up the ones you are missing.
The purple Riven, Deserter is going to see play in Riven decks. People are running the green Riven as the chosen champion, not this one. But if you play Riven, you want a playset of her champion units.
Then there are the Epics under a dollar. Mordekaiser, Dominating is a 9 cost unit with 2 power. You play him and kill something. Evelynn, Consuming is interesting too. On release weekend the cheapest Epic was Zero Point Inflection at 48 cents. Now it is Whirling Twirligig at 40 cents. I count 12 Epics at about a dollar or less.
I do not think these cheap ones are strong right now. Their legends are not at the level of Irelia, Riven, Master Yi or Kennen. But if you like to own a playset of everything, this is the time. You never know when a $9 card turns into $70. The market is still settling. People are still ripping product and heading to their weeklies. Once prices settle, go pick them up.
